So we’ve all seen films like Aliens etc where the futuristic heroes wear mechanical exoskeletons to give them superhuman strength. Well it now looks like the military contractor “Sarcos” has developed an exoskeleton that with further development will enable super soldiers to be the staple of the battlefield.. although i’d expect them to cost a pretty penny… and since the governments at the moment have a problem shelling out for body armour and boots that don’t melt for their troops I think they might have a budget problem equiping all their troops with this one.

Battlestar Galactica’s executive producer Ronald D. Moore has accepted that the show may never resume filming following the current writers’ strike in America.

In a posting on his blog after production on the acclaimed show’s final season shut down, Moore stated: “I refuse to believe that we won’t finish, that we won’t be back to film our final stories, but I know and accept there is that possibility.”

Currently, only 13 episodes have been filmed with nine yet to be completed. Moore added: “I am ready to put the rest of the story on the table and take the risk that I’ll never be able to tell it, in support of this strike. Like Adama says, you make your choices and then you live with them.”

Tests showed that men performed worse after they were shown pictures of fair-haired women, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Researchers concluded that rather than simply being distracted, the men were subconsciously copying the stereotype of the “blonde bimbo”.

Academics at the University of Paris X-Nanterre examined men’s ability to complete general knowledge tests after exposure to women with different hair colours.

Throughout both trials, those participants exposed to blondes recorded the lowest scores.

“This proves that people confronted with stereotypes generally behave in line with them,” said Thierry Meyer, joint author of the study and professor of social psychology at the university.

“In this case blondes have the potential to make people act in a dumber way, because they mimic the unconscious stereotype of the dumb blonde.”

THE FOO FIGHTERS!

So last night i went to see the Foo Fighters at O2 Arena (used to be the Millennium Dome) and I must say that the gig was up there with their Hyde Park performance last year.

Well with every Foos concert one goes too there are always high expectations.. yet Dave Grohl and Co always have that knack of delivering the product +10% extra mayhem thrown in for good measure…. Be it the percussionist’s triangle solo… Kaki King’s “Playing with Pink Noise”….. or Serj Tankians weaving tunes the show certainly exceeded expectations.

We were dazzled by a wide range of Foo Fighters tracks from their vast array of albums. Welcome treats included Blackout and Marigold which have not been played by them in ‘years’.

They then returned to do a 4 song encore including a track sung by Serj Tankian. The Foo Fighters take an arena concert and turn it into a life experience and they do this with style and a touch of genius that is rare today; it’s why people will continue to see them and why their gigs sell out in a matter of minutes.

SERJ TANKIAN

He is best known as the lead vocalist, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist of the alternative metal band System of a Down, as well as, along with Tom Morello, the co-founder of Axis of Justice, a nonprofit organization. Serj Tankian was playing the warm up act for the Foos; and a lot of his act was from his new album “Elect the Dead” which looks to be a corker!.. I really liked them and will be shortly adding Elect the Dead to my cd collection.

Until yesterday I’d only briefly heard of Kaki King cos she’s featured on the Foo’s new track “the Ballard of the Beaconsfield Miners”…. however now all i’m thinking is where and when can i get her album…. damn she’s good and she has a unique style of acoustic guitar play….

She played the Ballard of the Beaconsfield Miners with Dave and then got coaxed into treating us to “Playing with Pink Noise” which was somthing out of this world!

Her latest Album is called “…Until We Felt Red” and has been out about a year although she has posted on her MySpace site is saying she’s finished a new album due for release next year.

Sony Pictures announced this week that they’re finally working on a second sequel to the classic 1984 ghost-busting comedy Ghostbusters. But, instead of a live-action film, it’ll be a video game. Also, it will be awesome. Presumably their decision not to make it a movie was motivated by the fact that Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Harold Ramis are now all way too old to carry a proton pack up a flight of stairs, but still, I think it’s a pretty great one.

Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis will all be voicing their characters for the game and today it was confirmed that Ernie Hudson is also back. Woot Winston! Along with him will even be supporting characters, with Annie Potts, William Atherton, and Brian Doyle Murray. And since Sigourney Weaver hasn’t signed on yet, the action will probably focus more on actual ghost killing than boring stuff like romance and baby saving (like in 1989’s disappointing Ghostbusters 2).

The game will also be co op. Which is freakin greatness. Oh and in case you are wondering if any other characters from the Ghostbusters world will be returning, well take a look at the image for the game below.

Best of all, the game’s expected to drop next autumn, just around the time when Hollywood starts releasing all the terrible movies that were rushed into production before next year’s anticipated actors and directors strike, so we’ll be able to play it uninterrupted well into 2009. Man, I can’t wait!
