I’ve been meaning to write up this story for a few days, and have finally found the time to tell you all about it.

Transportation officials in Texas are having problems with hackers changing messages on digital road signs after one sign in Austin was altered to read, “Zombies Ahead.” hehe

Now you and I probably find this highly amusing, but the big shots at the dept of transport said “Those signs are deployed for a reason — to improve traffic conditions, let folks know there’s a road closure.” and added “It’s sort of amusing, but not at all helpful”… at least they have a bit of a sense of humor.

My advice… WATCH OUT FOR ZOMBIES ON THE HIGHWAY!!

One thing that annoys me about owning a car is the sheer cost of keeping the bugger on the road!

Sure it affords me a large degree of mobility in an area of the world which is made up of lots of villages and towns with a crap bus service. But my main issue is how much it costs to keep it trucking!

My last car was affectionatly named “The Pheonix” by friends and collegues because it had practically every part replaced over 5 years, and had died multiple times. To be honest if I’d taken all the money it cost to keep it on the road and put it in a piggy bank, I would probably have the best part of £10,000 extra on my person!

The last week I incurred:

2x Windscreen wipers - £20

Wing-mirror glass - £6

Sidelight bulb - £2

New battery - £97 (yes i got fleeced here)

MOT - £55

6 months car tax - £115

Total cost for January = £289

This might lead me to one action with is to destroy the infernal machine at the end of the year. Problem is it will only have to be replaced by yet another vehicle for me to drive into the ground.

To make matters worse we pay TWICE as much for fuel as our friends over in the USA. $11 per gallon in the UK is the going rate (last year’s average) and it’s insane!

Get to work on the tube technology or transporters please!

Last night Lost season 5 kicked off in the US with 2 episodes. For people like me in the UK who have a US proxy we can watch this online today and I’m really looking forward to it!

This penultimate season looks to be a good one too!

I just stumbled across the new X-Men film trailer. Last I saw was a very short teaser trailer that really didn’t show much… but this new one looks awesome!

It looks like Wolverine is “very old” from the clips in it. Nice to see we get to see the X-Men fave “Gambit” in the film too

I always find it amusing when someone tries to emulate Home Alone/MacGyver style traps and doesn’t bother to think of the consequences. In the case of one man in the Bay Shore area of New York I think he’s taken is a bit to far.

The man was arrested for almost killing another man with a booby trap in his home to keep intruders out.

The trap was to protect himself from squatters that lived in the building, but for some reason he didn’t put the trap away for a technician that was scheduled to come to the apartment.

The landlord warned the tennant of the mantanance and told him the work was necessary. Luckily, the technician never faced the trap because the landlord entered the apartment before him to make sure it was safe. When the landlord tried to open the door he noticed some sort of contraption set up behind it, making it hard for him to fully open it.

Thankfully, he was cautious and checked to see if there was anything worth noticing. You can imagine his surprise when he saw the vietnam war style punji trap with a huge knife above him!

*Note to self … “disable home-made traps for repairmen”

I don’t get much mail from the US on average. Today was an exception…

I received an envelope straight from Los Angeles and thought “hmm… who in LA could possibly want to sue me?”… luckily that was not the case.

I’ve been following Coin-Op.TV for several months now, and have to say it’s an excellent way to unwind on a Friday evening when not out partying (Thursday if you’re in the US). The production is top notch (better than most television productions!).

Anyway.. I’m getting off track here. I try to watch their live show on theStream.tv every week and also chat on Twitter to one of the hosts Rob Welkner who’s a top guy.

Today’s letter in the post was a signed pic of Rob and Hailey from Coin-Op.TV …. this is the 2nd time in a week that I’ve received a nice gesture through the post from people I follow online.

Thanks so much all at Coin-Op.TV this will take a place of honor on our office wall!

This has been out for a few weeks now and I’ve only just got round to posting it.

Picked up this little beauty on FailBlog… I can see why it’s on there, but in all fairness the product looks quite good!

Marmite….. you either love it or hate it!……. and I love it!

Just before Christmas I impulsivly bought a jar since I hadn’t had any for years. I then put this on Twitter.

Social media mogul Michael Litman picked up on this and arranged a nice little surprise to be sent my way from the Splendid Communications office.

Yup a spanking huge pile of Marmite! And I must say everyone here is particularly impressed by the squeezy bottle as most Marmite eaters will know it’s a bitch to get it out of the jar sometimes.

Marmite all round!

Right! So I think I’m being fair in saying that It’s exceptionally cold for January in the UK!

Waking up to -8 degree temperatures and a car that looks like an ice cube with wheels is not my idea of fun!

My house mate says “Stop moaning”, “get over it”, “it’s not that cold”… etc…… lies!!!

I’m convinced he’s one of those 10% born in the world with a natural resistance to the cold!… Maybe he’s descended from an Eskimo or something!

So anyway… Back to my point… and there was one!

It’s bloody freezing in the UK! If anyone reading this blog who’s living in a warm area of the world (preferably positive figures!) wants take pity on me and shelter me (much like a homeless dog) please let me know!
